The following route description is the hike to the summits of Mount Osceola and East Osceola in the White Mountains. This route is via the Greeley Pond Trail and Osceola Trail. The hike is started by taking the Kancamagus Highway (Exit 32 off of 93) to the Greeley Pond Trail Parking lot. The Greeley Pond Parking lot requires you pay $3 per day for use of the park, which is paid by putting money in an envelope and putting it into a lock box and displaying the stub from the envelope on the dashboard of your car.
Please note when using this route the Osceola Trail has a steep rock pitch called the chimney which requires some scrambling/rock climbing. It is a short but very steep pitch. For those that do not feel comfortable with rock climbing or scrambling on rock there is a short cut off trail that goes around the chimney.
